Знаете ли вы о том, что есть якутское кино?

До последнего времени и мы не догадывались.

Существует даже кинокомпания «Сахафильм», образованная в 1992 году. А якутский кинематограф, оказывается, периодически встряхивает весь отечественный мир киноискусства.

Неожиданно для самих себя мы попали на премьеру одной из якутских кинолент «Иччи» режиссера Костаса Марсана.

Фильм привлек нас, в основном, своей якутской мифологией. В нем также много текста на якутском языке, что сразу привносит в картину национальный колорит . В нем интересно интерпретированы древние якутские представления о Верхнем, Среднем и Нижнем мире. Верхний мир – обитель Богов и Небожителей, Средний мир –  местопребывание людей и добрых Земных Духов, Нижний мир – мир злых сил, негативной мертвой энергии – абаасы – демонов.

Мы, люди, живем в Среднем мире. А с нами этот мир разделяют иччи. Они среди нас. Это духи-хозяева предметов, вещей, явлений природы или определённых мест в традиционных верованиях якутов. Согласно этим верованиям, природа — живая, все её объекты и явления имеют своих духов — иччи. Существуют законы, по которым всё в этих трех мирах тесно связано и находится в равновесии – эти законы лучше не нарушать…

Кинокартина «Иччи» состоит из двух частей – дневной и ночной.

В светлое время суток показана жизнь одной якутской семьи в тот её момент, когда отношения между поколениями особенно обострены. У каждого члена семьи есть свои «тёмные» мысли, свои причины быть наказанным за жадность людскую, злобу, агрессию, обман, желание тебе не принадлежащего, пробуждающие дремлющую где-то совсем рядом страшную, безжалостную, неподвластную человеку силу. Создатели фильма постоянно намекают зрителям о такой возможности, но нам, далеким от древних верований, от красивых, но чуждых ритуалов и обрядов, трудно в это поверить.

Завораживает очень красивая природа Якутии, показанная в фильме, – дикая и необузданная, свободная и неуправляемая. Виды найдены великолепные, поддерживающие непростой образ земли, которая была когда-то покинута своим иччи, своим хранителем этой земли. Покинута именно из-за жестокой несправедливости, сотворенной давным-давно здешними жителями, несправедливости, о которой живущие здесь люди стараются на всякий случай не вспоминать…

Но мы чувствуем, что уже запущен механизм пробуждения старинной беспощадной дикой истории, пробуждения неведомого нам, того, что влечет за собой повторение когда-то случившегося для разрешения коллизий давнишнего чудовищного действа, для очищения этого места от грязи, гадости, мерзости и возвращения сюда своего иччи – хранителя этих мест…

Любопытно, что дом, в котором снимаются эпизоды фильма, – это настоящий жилой дом якутской семьи, предоставившей его создателям картины на время съемок в полное распоряжение, что дополнительно усиливает доверие к происходящему, добавляет правды повествованию, помогает правильной интерпретации происходящего. Вообще, надо сказать, что сцены дневной жизни семьи с их стычками, ссорами, обидами, требованиями, несогласиями удивительно откровенно сняты, им веришь – именно так оно и происходит, когда молодые самостоятельные люди предъявляют необоснованные требования стареющим и любящим их родителям. Тогда, когда нет близости и взаимопонимания между братьями, когда нет единодушия в совместном будущем семьи, когда нет настоящей любви.

Ночные события, погружающие зрителя в фантасмагорию, внутри которой героям приходится существовать, дают нам реально почувствовать, что относясь к народным поверьям со снисходительной улыбкой, можно разбудить неотвратимый пугающий рок и ощутить на себе его прикосновение незамедлительно. Первозданная природа является в этой части главным героем картины: темнота, река, дождь, лес, земля, огонь, звери… И люди. Ни сном, ни духом не ведающие что ждёт их в самое ближайшее время.

Возврат к случившемуся на этой земле в далекие времена, опрокидывание на зрителя кульминации в форме сцен шаманского обряда, вселяющих священный трепет, соотнесение той давней истории с настоящим поддерживает якутскую концепцию восприятия мира как вечно повторяющихся событий. Именно то, что нам, европейцам, сложно понять. Нам, воспитанным в поступательном, невозможном к возврату, последовательном развитии истории и окружающего нас мира. Но с помощью этой картины мы можем прикоснуться и попробовать ощутить цикличность всего и вся.

Наверно, «Иччи» сложно назвать хорошим фильмом. Для этого он недостаточно целостен, а причинно-следственные связи событий выстраиваются с трудом.

Но фильм интересен тем, что преследует цель донести до зрителя в мифологической форме свою идею. Кроме известных библейских истин, лежащих на поверхности, ставятся вопросы ценности отдельной человеческой жизни, её важности и неотъемлемости в составе природы, окружающего мира в целом, Вселенной, Высших Сил Космоса и как таковой. Что важнее для этих якутских мест – иччи-хранитель земли или жизнь членов этой семьи?

При первом же столкновении интересов членов семьи за пока что мирным столом, при дальнейшем развитии конфликта близких членов одного рода все собравшиеся оказываются постепенно втянутыми в круг обречённых. Чем сильнее звучит негативная эмоция, тем явственнее прорастает зло. Спускающийся сумрак только пробуждает всё самое тёмное, зловещее, мрачное, легализуя дневное противостояние.

Есть ли безвинные? Пострадавшие неоправданно? Увы, таких нет. У каждого свой грех.

Лихо никто не кличет, оно явится само.

Вот что говорится в журнале «Шаманство» о законах жизни саха:

«Мы, саха, должны по-человечески бережно и трепетно относиться к природе, окружающему миру. Мы бессильны перед гневом природы и бушеванием стихий, не нам обуздать эти первозданные силы. Мы пока еще не доросли до этих великих знаний. Поэтому на данном этапе развития мы должны воспринимать мир как явность и найти путь к гармонии, понимая, что мир прекрасен изначально.»

Do you know that there is Yakut cinema?

Until recently, we did not even guess.

There is even the Sakhafilm film company, founded in 1992. And Yakut cinema, it turns out, periodically shakes up the entire domestic world of cinematography.

Unexpectedly for ourselves, we got to the premiere of one of the Yakut films «Spirit of itchi» directed by Kostas Marsan.

The film attracted us, for the most part, with its Yakut mythology. It also contains a lot of text in the Yakut language, which immediately brings a national flavor to the picture. It interestingly interprets the ancient Yakut ideas about the Upper, Middle and Lower Worlds. The Upper World is the abode of Gods and Celestials, the Middle World is the abode of people and good Earthly Spirits, the Lower World is the world of evil forces, negative dead energy — abaasy — demons.

We humans live in the Middle World. And with us this world is shared by itchi. They are among us. These are the spirits-masters of objects, things, natural phenomena or certain places in the traditional beliefs of the Yakuts. According to these beliefs, nature is alive, all its objects and phenomena have their own spirits — itchi. There are laws according to which everything in these three worlds is closely connected and is in balance — it is better not to violate these laws…

The film «Spirit of itchi» consists of two parts — day and night.

In the daytime, the life of one Yakut family is shown at that moment when relations between generations are especially aggravated. Each family member has their own «dark» thoughts, their own reasons for being punished for human greed, anger, aggression, deception, the desire that does not belong to you, awakening a terrible, ruthless, force not subject to man dormant somewhere very nearby. The filmmakers constantly hint to viewers about such a possibility, but we, far from ancient beliefs, from beautiful, but alien rituals and ceremonies, find it difficult to believe.

The very beautiful nature of Yakutia, shown in the film, is mesmerizing — wild and unbridled, free and uncontrollable. The species are found magnificent, supporting the complex image of the land, which was once abandoned by its itchi, its guardian of this land. It was abandoned precisely because of the cruel injustice created long ago by the local residents, the injustice that descendants try not to remember just in case…

But we feel that the mechanism of awakening the ancient merciless wild history, awakening unknown to us, that entails the repetition of a distant monstrous event that once happened for the final working off by people, to cleanse this place of dirt, filth, abomination and return here his itchi — the keeper of these places…

It is curious that the house in which the events of the film are filmed is a real dwelling house of the Yakut family, which at the time of filming provided its creators with the picture at their complete disposal. This further strengthens the credibility of what is happening, adds truth to the narrative, and helps in the correct interpretation of what is happening. In general, it must be said that the scenes of the family’s daytime life with their clashes, quarrels, grievances, demands, disagreements are surprisingly frankly filmed, you believe them — this is exactly what happens when young independent people make unreasonable demands to aging and loving parents. Then, when there is no closeness and mutual understanding between brothers, when there is no unanimity in the joint future of the family, when there is no true love.

Night events, immersing the viewer in a phantasmagoria, inside which the heroes have to exist, make us really feel that referring to popular beliefs with a condescending smile, one can awaken an inevitable frightening fate and feel its touch immediately. Primordial nature is the main character of the picture in this part: darkness, river, rain, forest, earth, fire, animals… And people. Neither in sleep, nor in spirit knowing what awaits them in the very near future.

A return to what happened on this earth in distant times, the overturning of the culmination on the viewer in the form of scenes of a shamanic rite that inspire awe, the correlation of that old history with the present supports the Yakut concept of perceiving the world as eternally repeating events. Exactly what is difficult for us Europeans to understand. We, brought up in a progressive, consistent, impossible to return to the development of history and the world around us. But with the help of this picture we can touch and try to feel this cyclical nature of everything and everyone.

Probably, «Spirit of itchi» can hardly be called a good film. For this, it is not holistic enough, and the cause-and-effect relationships of events are built with difficulty.

But the film is interesting in that it aims to convey its idea to the viewer in a mythological form. In addition to the well-known biblical truths read on the surface, questions are raised about the value of a separate human life, its importance and inalienability in the composition of nature, the surrounding world as a whole, the Universe, the Higher Forces of the Cosmos and as such. What is more important for these Yakut places — the itchi, the guardian of the land, or the life of the members of this family?

At the first clash of interests of family members at a peaceful table for now, with further disagreement between the closest members of the same clan, all those gathered are gradually drawn into the circle of the doomed. The stronger the negative emotion sounds, the more clearly evil grows. The descending dusk only awakens all the darkest, ominous, gloomy, legalizing daytime conflicts.

Are there any innocent people? Are the victims unjustifiably? Alas, there are none. Everyone has their own sin.

Famously no one calls out, it will appear by itself.

Here is what Shamanstvo magazine says about the laws of Sakha life:

“We, Sakha, must humanly respect and reverently treat nature and the world around us. We are powerless in the face of the anger of nature and the raging of the elements, it is not for us to curb these primordial forces. We have not yet matured to this great knowledge. Therefore, at this stage of development, we must perceive the world as a reality and find a way to harmony, realizing that the world is beautiful from the very beginning.»
